YEAR 12 STUDENT ADVISER

Here at Blacktown Girls High we specialise in Girls' Education

We understand how girls learn best and how girls develop both emotionally and physically. All our teaching strategies, subject content, organisation of the School day, length of lessons and programs offered are designed around GIRLS!

Year 12 is an extremely important year for the students and their families. We will provide many support programs this year to enhance the Higher School Certificate, such as:

  • MENTORING a program offered during DEAR. Students will work through study skills, Board of Studies' requirements and personal management issues.

  • FLEXITIME in 2009 Year 12 students will only be able to leave the school after 12.35pm if they have no classes in Period 4 of that day. Parental permission must be given. All Year 12 will attend Roll Call at 8.20am each day. Study periods can be spent productively in a range of venues in the school. Most have computer and Internet access points.

All normal school operations apply to Year 12 students. Attendance remains a critical concern as does meeting all HSC requirements regarding assessment, practical work and field trips. Sport for those students who met the Year 11 requirements becomes optional for Year 12. Early leave on Tuesdays will be possible if students have no 'off-line', extension or 1 Unit classes scheduled for Tuesday afternoons.

We look forward to working with students to ensure their success. Parental support can only strengthen and add to their feeling that we are all here to help them.
